4060Baja

This is an introduction to baja. For those who have never been it is a must see bucket list adventure. If you have the time, motivation and money do it. You will come back a changed person. You will feel/see energy that is old and pure. Your senses will open like a fine wine when traveling in this part of the world. This specific piece of Mexico is old, is pure and untouched. There are spots of civilization expressed in cities as seen in the menus below but don't be fooled: this is virgin territory. The most stark example of this is the Valle de los Cirios, a visual homogeny of the native Cactus and other hearty plants able to withstand over 120 degrees fareinheight of desert heat. Don't let the similarities fool you into thinking that everything is the same and it's all the same land. Hundreds of miles of these cactus will greet you from the road as you travel down the baja in this protected land. The best way to appreciate it is to slow down and go anywhere between 40km and 60km per hour. Let your senses catch up to what you are seeing. Your gasoline tank will thank you and you'll use much less gasoline. Also your family with any inner ear issues will thank you as within this Valley of the Cirios there are numerous curves and switchbacks. Taking it slow will also give your high resolution GoPro captures of a lifetime. But back to your eyes. Driving at these speeds (25-35MPH) means the driver also gets to enjoy the scenery with minimal worry about accidents. Stopping and stretching every 1 hour is also a way to see some of the most incredible cactus and scenes front and center. Most of this country is void of humans and cars. You will find that those who come upon you in other cars will pass you when able and by you putting on your left blinker, when you see the coast is clear, gives them confidence to pass. Below you find the cities we visited on our journey. There are many more. This is a land to behold up front and center with all its stark nudity available for you to experience. You will return a changed person. Thank you for visiting.
